- MAYA (Black, Female, 30s): Leila’s childhood friend, now a single mom and high school teacher.

Synopsis
An Iranian-American woman returns to her small Georgia hometown to sell her late father’s struggling diner but ends up reconnecting with quirky locals and rediscovering her roots.
